Hello, I’m Colin Walton. I founded my design business, WaltonCreative, in 2002 and have been based in Tunbridge Wells ever since. Throughout my career, I’ve worked across graphic design, photography, surface pattern design and illustration, building a diverse portfolio of creative work for a wide range of clients.

Now in my late 60s, I’m no longer taking on new commissions. Instead, this website serves as a curated collection of my professional work, alongside the ongoing personal projects that continue to inspire and motivate me.

Photography

Now semi retired my photography is what makes travelling so fascinating. Using the best equipment means super high-resolution images can be uploaded to the Alamy photo library. The only use of AI is the laborious job of writing captions and keywords. Something I used to spend weeks doing, can be done in seconds.

Patterns

I find pattern design so stimulating! There is something rewarding about having an idea, creating a pattern repeat then seeing it full screen in seconds. The key for me is by using Illustrator I can create accurate, multilayered documents that have perfect pattern repeats.

Illustrations

Most of these artworks have been created in Adobe Illustrator. There are retro posters with a Mid-Century vibe and tightly cropped graphic images often inspired by my photographs and collection of everyday items. Graphics

With a graphic design degree and a background working for well-known publishers. I have created numerous books and publications, large and small, from lavish gardening books for Dorling Kindersley to simple adverts for local businesses.
