Carnival Pattern Design
Carnival
Ideas for this pattern came before the title. I felt the design had a circus / fairground vibe, hence the final Carnival title.
Editing Ideas
I love to experiment with geometric shapes and often create test designs showing all of the ideas grouped together.
This design started from the same collection of pattern strips, an earlier design called Funfair also came from this.
The Heads
This accidentally anthropomorphic design looks a little like paper cutouts where the triangles look like shoulders and a dress. The circles then appear to look like heads!
Colouring The Pattern
I almost always start with primary colours red and blue with black. I then work through variations to see new colour combinations. I often use Illustrator’s Recolour Artwork tool to see live previews of changing all of the colours at once.
Using AI
AI: A lively assembly of abstract figures, built from circles and triangles, repeats in regimented rows to create a playful geometric rhythm.
I haven’t used AI to create any of my work. I do use it for areas I feel I can outsource, such as captions, descriptions and keywords. My latest batch of photographs was sent to the Alamy photo library with mainly AI written words saving a lot of tedious research.
Alternative Titles
AI Suggested these titles (in order of AI preference) Assembly, Gathering, Parade, Procession, Company, Collective, Ensemble, Line-Up, Concourse, Crowd, Companions, Comrades, Community, Pageant, Promenade, Masquerade, Totem, Bauhaus Parade, Modern Folk, Shape Society, Heads & Tails, All Together.
